Jackie, Calico account manager, loves how simple it is to use Workamajig's creative brief templates
Next to brilliant and charming account managers, creative briefs are the foundation of agency work. Briefs are the bones of the project — the direct connection between what the client expects and what the creatives will be providing. It’s my job, as brilliant and charming account manager, to make that connection and make the client confident that the project is in good hands. It’s basically all on me. That’s why I’m so glad to have Workamajig laying the foundation for me.

Here’s how people who aren’t brilliant and charming can screw up creative briefs:

  • Writing them from scratch and forgetting what information needs to be included.
  • Leaving them on their hard drive where no one else can get to them.
  • Storing the files in some random server folder, so that if they need to reference them in the future they have no idea where to start looking.
  • Failing to proofread. (Typos can really screw up a brief and make you look unbrilliant.)
  • Thinking they can do it without Workamajig.

Problem: How do I write such perfect creative briefs every time?

Solution: I develop them from our custom templates and store them in Workamajig

Writing briefs in Workamajig is just a matter of opening up a job, opening a new brief, and filling in the blanks on a template that you’ve customized to suit your agency’s needs. From there, you can save it, print it and pass it around in hard copy or electronic version. Your account management expertise, Workamajig’s ease and simplicity, and you look brilliant (and possibly charming).

Case study: Mega Cell is one of our oldest clients and one of our favorites to work with. They’re smart and not afraid to have fun, and we were all excited when they asked us to reprise an ad campaign we’d done with them from a couple of years ago. One challenge has been that the original campaign was done by Josh, a designer who is no longer with Calico because of an alpaca incident. Jenny, Josh’s replacement, is fantastic and totally up to the job, but we had to get her up to speed on the old project before we could start the new one.

With Workamajig, the creative brief from the old project was easy to find, stored in the system and linked to the old job number. I was able to develop the new brief straight from the old one, rather than needing a template. The client approved the brief right there within the system, and then I sent it straight to Jenny to get started. All of the details she needed to do the new campaign were right there on the brief, and everything she needed to reference from the old campaign was in the system as files and Conversations.

The creative looks good, because it’s exactly what the client needs. The agency looks good, because once again we’ve come through with great work. And I look good, because I was the glue that held it all together. I’m the brilliant and charming account manager. It’s what I do.
